How it WorksLymphatic system is the body’s protection against infection. The spleen is the major organ in this, it detects a foreign invader in the blood (bacteria, viruses, foreign microorganisms). Then it and the hundreds of other lymph nodes begin to create lymphocytes, also called white blood cells, to fight off the invaders.
